The “How To” on Finding Your District & Legislators

Step 1: Determine Your Legislative District

  • Visit this website: http://azredistricting.org/districtlocator/
  • Type in your address into the yellow box that says “address” (top right corner of web page)
  • Click “Find”
  • This screen will show the Congressional District and the Legislative District. Both are important, but focus on the Legislative District for identifying your Legislators

Step 2: Identify Your Legislators

  • Visit this website: http://www.azleg.gov/
  • Click the "Members" tab
  • Click "Member Roster"
  • Look at the “District Column” on the webpage and note the 1 Senator and 2 House Representatives from your district.

Step 3: Get to Know your Legislators

Take the time to click on the names of your legislators in the member roster. In most cases, their websites will include a picture and a brief bio that contains information about them.  Read the bios of each legislator for bits of information that might become useful in conversation. You never know what connection you might have to one of your legislators!

Step 4: Email Your Legislators
Now that you know your legislators, send them an email to let them know that you will be attending AT Day and would like the opportunity to meet with them.  The GAC will be setting appointments, but it helps to provide advanced notice and introductions.
